  1. Cut those Split Ends!

I know, I know, it sounds counterproductive. But trust me, once you let go of those dead ends, your hair can actually flourish and grow, because it will no longer have split ends (breakage happens when ends are split!

2. Moisturize your hair from roots to end!

Moisture is key when retaining hair! Water-based products are recommended to achieve the most moisture.

Your hair is weaker when it is wet, try to allow your hair dry a little bit first before combing, and always make sure to use a wide toothed comb.

4. Wash your hair every 2-3 weeks, do NOT over wash your hair because you want the good nutrients to stay in your hair.

Allow your hair to keep it's natural oils, these help with hair growth.

5. Wear a bonnet or silk scarf to protect your hair at night

This is one of the MOST important things of all. I kid you not, our precious curls are most vulnerable at night as we sleep, especially for the wild sleepers. Please make sure your hair is protected with a satin or silk scarf, bonnet or sleep on silk pillow cases. Why? Because those cotton pillow cases cause breakage!

8. Protein Treatments

Protein treatments are a great way to improve the strength of your hair, which can overall help with retention and overall growth.

Yes, I know this is a hard pill to swallow. However, heat is a naturalista's #1 enemy. Heat in water form, or flat iron/hair accessory tool form is the #1 way to damage your hair's strength and causes split ends. By any means, try to avoid putting heat on your hair.
